Clemson looks to remain unbeaten against Maryland
Jan 13, 2007 - 3:18 PM No. 14 Clemson (17-0) at No. 25 Maryland (14-3) 2:00 pm ESTCOLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) - Clemson is headed toward its best season in school history.
The 14th-ranked Tigers look to remain undefeated against No. 25 Maryland in an Atlantic Coast Conference game on Saturday.
In one of the toughest conferences in college basketball, Clemson (17-0, 3-0 ACC) is looking like not only the best squad in the league but maybe one of the best in the country. It looks to start 18-0 for the first time in program history.
The Tigers matched their stellar start of 1986-87 with an 87-76 triumph at North Carolina State on Tuesday. Their good play has had a lot to do with forward James Mays, who has led Clemson to a 28-0 record when he is in the starting lineup. The Tigers started 11-0 last season before Mays was deemed academically ineligible.
Coming off a 63-58 loss to Miami on Wednesday, the Terrapins (14-3, 0-2) are looking for their first conference victory of the season. Maryland hasn't lost its first three ACC games since 1999-2000.
After losing 13 straight against the Terrapins, Clemson has won four consecutive games in the series.
