LSU aims to extend home winning streak vs. Auburn
Jan 13, 2007 - 3:45 PM Auburn (11-6) at No. 18 LSU (11-4) 3:00 pm ESTBATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) - After a tough road loss, Louisiana State will return to where it is most comfortable.
The 18th-ranked Tigers look to continue their winning ways at home against Southeastern Conference rival Auburn on Saturday.
On Tuesday, LSU (11-4, 0-1 SEC West) dropped 71-61 road decision to Alabama in its first conference matchup of the season. Tasmin Mitchell scored 19 points for the Tigers, who were limited to 36 percent (25-of-70) shooting and just 3-of-17 on 3-pointers.
However, LSU will be returning home, where it has been playing its best basketball. The Tigers are looking for their 18th straight win on their home court.
Guided by John Brady, LSU has not lost a game at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center since February 29, 2004, when it fell to then-No. 9 Kentucky, 70-64.
Auburn (11-6, 1-1) was routed by Kentucky, 84-57, in its last game on Wednesday. It has lost three of its last five contests.
Auburn has not defeated LSU since the 2004 SEC tournament. It doesn't figure to get any easier on Saturday as Auburn has lost 14 straight games to ranked opponents.
