No. 16 Oklahoma St hosts cross-state rival Oklahoma

Jan 22, 2007 - 6:41 PM Oklahoma (11-6) at No. 16 Oklahoma St (16-3) 9:00 pm EST

STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Despite the play of Mario Boggan and JamesOn Curry, things have been rough lately for Oklahoma State.

The 16th-ranked Cowboys try to overcome their recent struggles Monday when they host intrastate rival Oklahoma in a Big 12 Conference showdown.

Coming off its lowest-scoring game of the campaign, Oklahoma State has dropped two of its last three contests. The Cowboys needed three overtimes for their lone victory in that stretch, a 105-103 triumph over Texas on January 16.

Oklahoma State slipped to 2-2 in conference play with Saturday's 57-49 loss at Texas A&M. Curry scored 20 points and Boggan added 11 for the Cowboys, who made just five baskets in the second half and shot just 33 percent (12-of-36) from the floor overall.

Boggan leads OSU with 21.4 points per game but scored a season-low eight points in an 87-57 loss to Kansas on January 10 that started the recent slide. Curry averages 19.1 points and combines with Boggan for nearly half the squad's offense.

The Sooners are 3-2 against Big 12 foes and have captured three of their last four contests. Their conference victories have come by an average of 27 points.

Oklahoma defeated Baylor for the 25th consecutive time with Saturday's 91-51 rout. Nate Carter scored 22 points, Michael Neal added 16 and Bobby Maze 13 off the bench for the Sooners.

The Cowboys have won all 11 home games this season and will look to snap a two-game slide against the Sooners.
