Alabama aims to cure road woes against rival Auburn

Jan 23, 2007 - 5:24 PM No. 12 Alabama (15-3) at Auburn (12-8) 9:00 pm EST

AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Alabama hopes to begin reversing its road woes against its biggest rival.

The 12th-ranked Crimson Tide look to snap their two-game road skid Tuesday when they visit intra-state rival Auburn in a Southeastern Conference clash.

Despite winning all 12 of its home games, Alabama (15-3, 2-2 SEC West) has dropped three of its last four road contests. The Crimson Tide have played especially poorly in their last two road games, losing an 88-61 contest at Arkansas on January 6 and getting routed at Vanderbilt, 94-73, on Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide hope to carry momentum from Saturday's thrilling 78-76 victory over Georgia.

Alonzo Gee scored 21 points and Ronald Steele drilled the game-winning jumper as time expired for Alabama, which rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit.

The Tigers (12-8, 2-3), who have dropped seven straight meetings with Alabama, are 1-3 in their last four games. Auburn dropped an 87-76 decision to Mississippi State on Saturday.

Josh Dollard, who was held to only seven points in an 83-80 win over Tennessee on Wednesday, rebounded with a season-high 19-point performance against the Bulldogs.
