Memphis hopes to remain perfect in league play

Jan 24, 2007 - 4:05 PM Tulsa (12-5) at No. 14 Memphis (15-3) 9:00 pm EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Jeremy Hunt and Memphis hope to extend their winning streak and remain perfect in conference play.

The 14th-ranked Tigers shoot for their eighth straight win Wednesday when they host Tulsa in a Conference USA clash.

Memphis (15-3, 5-0 Conference USA) captured its seventh consecutive win Saturday in a 61-44 triumph over East Carolina.

Hunt, a senior guard who missed all of last season due to disciplinary problems, scored 16 points to pace the Tigers, who have not lost since falling to then-No. 9 Arizona on December 20.

The Tigers, who swept the Golden Hurricanes last season, could be without leading scorer Chris Douglas-Roberts, who suffered a sprained ankle in Saturday's win. Douglas-Roberts is averaging 14.8 points per game this season.

The Tigers hope to keep rolling against a Tulsa squad which looks to bounce back from Saturday's 69-67 conference loss to Houston.

Ben Uzoh scored 18 points for the Golden Hurricanes (12-5, 2-2), who have lost all three road games this season.
