Slumping Arizona should get well against Arizona State

Jan 24, 2007 - 4:31 PM Arizona St (6-13) at No. 19 Arizona (13-5) 9:30 pm EST

TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Mired in its longest losing streak in over 20 years, Arizona will get a visit from a hated rival at just the right time.

The 19th-ranked Wildcats look to end their losing ways when they host struggling Arizona State in a Pac-10 Conference matchup on Wednesday.

Arizona (13-5, 4-4 Pac-10) has lost three straight, all in conference, for its longest skid since the 1983-84 season. The last time the Wildcats lost four straight was from January 5-14, 1984, coach Lute Olson's first season in Tucson.

The Wildcats started the season with a loss at Virginia before reeling off 12 straight wins. An overtime loss at Washington State was followed by a win over Oregon State and then the recent slide which includes losses to Oregon, Southern California and UCLA.

A visit from the Sun Devils should help cure what ails the Wildcats, who have won 22 of the last 23 meetings with Arizona State, which is mired in a nine-game losing streak of its own.

The Sun Devils (6-13, 0-8) are the only team in the Pac-10 without a conference win and are coming off a 58-49 loss at USC on Saturday.
