No. 1 Florida seeks 12th consecutive win at Auburn

Jan 27, 2007 - 2:45 PM No. 1 Florida (18-2) at Auburn (13-8) 5:00 pm EST

AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Florida's deadly shooting accuracy has the defending national champion closing in on another milestone.

The top-ranked Gators look for their 12th consecutive victory to remain undefeated in Southeastern Conference play Saturday when they visit Auburn in coach Billy Donovan's 400th career game.

Florida shoots 52.4 percent (608-of-1,122) from the floor and nearly 43 percent (154-of-359) from the arc to rank among the nation's leaders. The Gators have a chance to win their 20th game before February for the first time in school history.

Donovan guided his team to a 5-0 start in SEC play with Wednesday's 70-67 triumph over Mississippi State. Corey Brewer scored 20 points and Al Horford grabbed 14 rebounds as the Gators hit 7-of-15 3-pointers.

The Tigers have split their first six conference games this season and have dropped three of their last five overall. They are just 1-7 against the nation's No. 1 team, defeating Kentucky, 53-52, during the 1987-1988 season.

Auburn is coming off Tuesday's 81-57 victory over Alabama. Korvotney Barber scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shots, Frank Tolbert added 17 and Quan Powell 14 with 10 rebounds.

Florida has won 10 of the last 13 meetings against Auburn, including its last three visits here.
