Cowboys try to shake off scare; face Iowa State

STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) - Oklahoma State won after receiving quite a scare in its last game and looks for its third straight victory when it hosts Iowa State on Saturday.

The 16th-ranked Cowboys outlasted Big 12 rival Oklahoma, 66-61, on Monday to improve to 6-2 in their last eight games.

Oklahoma State's two losses during that stretch came against ranked opponents. The Cowboys fell, 87-57, against Kansas on January 10 and were defeated, 67-49, at Texas A&M on Saturday.

Leading scorer Mario Boggan only scored 13 against the Sooners and is only averaging 12.0 points in his last two games after netting a season-high 37 in a wild 105-103 overtime win over Texas on January 16.

Byron Eaton led the Cowboys (17-3, 3-2 Big 12) with 17 points after averaging 8.3 points in his previous four games.

Oklahoma State's last two losses have come against ranked opponents. The Cowboys fell, 87-57, against Kansas on January 10 and were defeated, 67-49, at Texas A&M on Saturday.

The Cyclones (11-8, 2-3) have dropped three straight contests after losing, 69-60, to Kansas State on Saturday. Iowa State's leading scorer Mike Taylor led the Cyclones with 21 points.
