Davis looks to re-establish dominance inside at Georgia

Jan 28, 2007 - 2:53 PM No. 22 LSU (13-6) at Georgia (12-6) 3:00 pm EST

ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Glen Davis will have his hands full in trying to return to his dominating form.

Davis and 22nd-ranked Louisiana State will try to halt a two-game losing streak when they travel to Georgia in a Southeastern Conference clash on Sunday.

A preseason favorite to take the SEC West Division title, the Tigers (13-6, 2-3 SEC West) have stumbled to a slow start in part because of the struggles of Davis. The junior forward has been well below his season averages with 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as LSU has gone just 2-2 over its last last four league games.

The league's reigning player of the year and second-leading scorer with 18.6 points, Davis managed just 12 points on 5-of-15 shooting in 64-53 home loss to Vanderbilt on Wednesday.

In fact, offensive output has been a problem for the whole team, as LSU has failed to score more than 66 points in each of its last seven games. Opponents have averaged 59.9 points over that span.

The Bulldogs (12-6, 4-2 East) snapped a three-game losing streak against ranked foes by rallying from 17 points down for a 78-69 overtime victory over No. 25 Kentucky on Wednesday. Takais Brown scored 20 points and Terrance Woodbury added 16.

Brown should probably keep Davis busy inside, as the 6-8 junior is averaging 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in his last three games.

Prior to Arkansas' 63-57 victory at Alabama on Saturday, teams from the West Division were 0-16 on the road.
