No. 1 Florida can post 20th win vs. Vanderbilt

Jan 31, 2007 - 3:03 PM Vanderbilt (15-6) at No. 1 Florida (19-2) 7:00 pm EST

GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- The milestones are coming fast and furious for defending national champion Florida.

The top-ranked Gators can reach their 20th win in January for the first time in school history and remain unbeaten in Southeastern Conference play in Wednesday's matchup against Vanderbilt.

Florida (19-2, 6-0 SEC East) can tie the school mark for best start in SEC play set in 2003 and can record its ninth consecutive 20-win campaign after posting five in the previous 77 seasons before Billy Donovan became coach.

The Gators have won their last 12 contests - the fifth-longest streak in school annals - and are 13-0 at home this season. They also have beaten the Commodores six straight times and in 11 of the past 12 meetings.

Florida continued its stellar play with Saturday's 91-66 triumph over Auburn. Al Horford, Taurean Green and Lee Humphrey scored 17 point apiece for the Gators.

Looking to defeat the nation's No. 1 team for the first topping Kentucky on January 13, 1993, Vanderbilt (15-6, 5-2 East) has won its last four outings.

The Commodores are coming off Saturday's 85-50 victory over Mississippi. Derrick Byars scored 19 points, Dan Cage added 18 and Shan Foster 14 for Vanderbilt.
