No. 8 Texas A&M can win 20th straight at home vs. Iowa State

Jan 31, 2007 - 3:40 PM Iowa St (11-9) at No. 8 Texas A&M (17-3) 7:30 pm EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- With two tough showdowns just around the corner, Texas A&M cannot afford to overlook its next opponent.

The eighth-ranked Aggies try to win for the 11th time in 12 contests and extend their home winning streak to 20 games Wednesday when they host Iowa State in a Big 12 Conference contest.

Texas A&M (17-3, 5-1 Big 12) has held its last 31 opponents to less than 50 percent shooting, the nation's longest active streak. Opponents have topped 50 percent in a half just three times this season.

The Aggies, whose next two games are against ranked conference rivals Kansas and Texas, can open with an 18-3 start for the first time in school history.

Texas A&M rebounded from a loss at Texas Tech with Saturday's 70-61 victory over Oklahoma. Antanas Kavaliauskas scored 20 points and Acie Law added 19 for the Aggies, who committed just seven turnovers.

The Cyclones (11-9, 2-4) are averaging just 59.8 points over their four-game losing streak. They have not lost five straight conference games since the start of the 2004-2005 Big 12 season.

After surrendering 17 first-half points, Iowa State surrendered 45 in the final 20 minutes of Saturday's 62-50 loss to Oklahoma State. Mike Taylor scored 13 points, Dodie Dunson added 11 and Wesley Johnson grabbed 10 rebounds for the Cyclones.

Iowa State has won three of its five all-time meetings against Texas A&M.
