No. 12 Memphis goes for 10th straight win vs. Central Florida
Jan 31, 2007 - 4:32 PM No. 12 Memphis (17-3) at UCF (15-5) 7:00 pm ESTORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- One can only imagine how good Memphis could be if it shot better.
The 12th-ranked Tigers hope to pick up their 10th consecutive victory and remain first in Conference USA on Wednesday when they visit Central Florida.
Unbeaten since December 20 against Arizona, Memphis (17-3, 7-0 Conference USA) has shot just 36.5 percent in recent victories over East Carolina, Tulsa and Southern Mississippi. In the previous five contests, the Tigers shot 51.8 percent.
The Tigers are coming off Saturday's 67-64 victory over Southern Mississippi. Jeremy Hunt scored 21 points, Chris Douglas-Roberts added 15 and Joey Dorsey grabbed 16 rebounds for Memphis.
Central Florida (15-5, 4-2) has won four of its last five games and will look to extend its home winning streak to 13 consecutive contests.
The Golden Knights are coming off Saturday's 67-64 victory over Texas-El Paso. Jermaine Taylor scored 15 points off the bench and Josh Peppers and Mike O'Donnell had 13 each for Central Florida.
Memphis has won all four of the previous matchups against Central Florida, including a 94-61 victory on January 28, 2006, and will be playing here against the Golden Knights for the first time.
