Rutgers knocks off Colgate 76-67
Dec 6, 2009 - 9:23 PM PISCATAWAY, N.J.(AP) -- Gregory Echenique had 19 points and eight rebounds to help Rutgers hold off Colgate 76-67 on Sunday.Freshman Dane Miller had career highs with 15 points and eight rebounds for Rutgers (5-2) and Mike Rosario came off the bench for 14 points.
Rosario, Rutgers' leading scorer, did not enter until 8:07 remained in the first half due to a shin problem.
Kyle Roemer led Colgate (0-8) with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Yaw Gyawu added 16 points and seven rebounds.
Trailing 37-30 early in the second half, Rutgers went on a 24-5 run to open up a 54-42 advantage. With the score tied at 40, James Beatty hit a 3-pointer and Rosario hit a foul shot and jumper to start the Knights on a decisive 14-2 run.
Rutgers also got nine points and six assists from Mike Coburn.
