Feb 3, 2007 - 2:44 PM SMU (13-8) at No. 12 Memphis (18-3) 12:00 pm EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- With a full head of steam, Memphis has built a fairly comfortable lead on top of Conference USA.

The 12th-ranked Tigers look for their 11th consecutive victory and to extend their home-court winning streak to 26 in a row with Saturday's encounter against Southern Methodist University.

After winning all eight games in January by an average of 17 points, the Tigers have a 2 1/2 game lead over Houston in the conference standings. They have forced an average of nearly 21 turnovers in their last four contests after just a 12.3 average in the previous four.

Memphis continued its winning ways with Wednesday's 87-65 victory over Central Florida. Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 23 points and Joey Dorsey added a career-high 22 for the Tigers, who shot 58 percent (33-of-57) from the floor.

The Mustangs have fallen on hard times after winning nine of their first 10 games. They have dropped five of their last seven against conference foes and are 5 1/2 games out in the C-USA standings.

SMU snapped an eight-game road conference losing streak with Wednesday's 60-56 triumph over Alabama-Birmingham. Bamba Fall led the Mustangs with 16 points and Ike Ofoegbu added 10.

Memphis has won two of the three all-time meetings against SMU.
