No. 5 UCLA looks to stay unbeaten at home vs. Oregon State

Feb 3, 2007 - 5:14 PM Oregon St (9-14) at No. 5 UCLA (19-2) 5:30 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Back in familiar territory, UCLA is hoping to widen its lead atop the Pac-10 Conference.

The fifth-ranked Bruins go for their sixth victory in seven games Saturday when they face Oregon State in a Pac-10 showdown.

Coming off last Sunday's loss at Stanford, UCLA raised its conference mark to 8-2 and regained sole possession of first place in the Pac-10 race with Thursday's 69-57 triumph over Oregon.

Arron Afflalo scored 17 points and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 15 with 12 rebounds for the Bruins, who won their 16th straight home contest and took a one-game lead over Oregon, Washington State and Southern California in the conference chase.

The Beavers have dropped their last five games and are just 1-9 in the Pac-10, one game ahead of last-place Arizona State.

Oregon State again came up shot in a conference matchup with Thursday's 73-56 defeat to USC. Kyle Jeffers made 7-of-11 shots to score 15 points and was the only Beavers player in double figures.

UCLA has won the last four meetings against Oregon State, including a 71-56 victory January 4. Josh Shipp scored 18 points and Afflalo added 14 for the Bruins.
