Houston beats Troy 93-85 for 3rd straight win

Dec 15, 2009 - 4:04 AM HOUSTON(AP) -- Aubrey Coleman scored 25 points, Kelvin Lewis added 24 and Houston defeated Troy 93-85 Monday night.

Lewis finished 7 of 9 from 3-point range, and the Cougars (5-2) hit 16 3s in all as they won their third straight.

Brandon Hazzard had 21 points and Richard Delk 20 for the Trojans (5-5).

Lewis scored 12 points in the first 20 minutes to help Houston build a 43-37 halftime lead.

The Cougars led by as many as 12 in the second half before Troy got as close as four on three occasions in the final minutes. Hazzard hit a 3 with 1:34 remaining to cap a 5-0 run that pulled the Trojans to within 84-80. He connected on another 3 with 50 seconds to go to make it 87-83, and a jumper by Delk cut the deficit to 89-85.

Houston sealed the win with four free throws.
