Manhattan downs Long Island 71-61
Dec 20, 2009 - 2:55 AM NEW YORK(AP) -- Darryl Crawford scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Manhattan beat Long Island for the fourth time in a row, 71-61 on Saturday night.Rico Pickett and Andrew Gabriel each scored 13 points for the Jaspers (6-5), who snapped a two-game losing streak. Patrick Bouli added 12 points. The Jaspers had lost three of their last four games.
A layup by Pickett with 12:49 remaining gave the Jaspers their biggest lead of the game at 54-36. The shot capped a 13-3 run. The Blackbirds (4-6) could get no closer than nine points the rest of the game.
The Jaspers held their fourth straight opponent to less than 40 percent shooting from the field. The Blackbirds, who had a four-game home winning streak snapped, shot 38.2 percent (21-for-55).
Jaytornah Wisseh had a game-high 23 points with seven assists for the Blackbirds.
