Top-ranked Gators shoot for 15th straight win
Feb 7, 2007 - 4:27 PM No. 1 Florida (21-2) at Georgia (13-8) 7:30 pm ESTATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Two days after being the first team unanimously voted No. 1 since Illinois two years ago, Florida looks to continue its winning ways.
The Gators hope to remain perfect in Southeastern Conference play Wednesday when they visit Georgia.
Florida (21-0, 8-0 SEC East) has a national-best 14-game winning streak after clobbering Tennessee, 94-78, on Saturday.
Al Horford scored a career-high 22 points and added 13 rebounds as the Gators opened a 50-24 lead at the half. Joakim Noah added 19 points and Taurean Green 18.
Georgia returns home after a pair of road losses last week to Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Takais Brown scored 14 points and Mike Mercer added 13 for the Bulldogs (13-8, 5-4 East) who dropped a 66-61 decision to the Commodores on Saturday.
Florida has won six straight in the series with the Bulldgos, including a 67-51 home triumph on January 6. Corey Brewer had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Noah had 13 and 13 in the contest.
