Wisconsin looks to improve Big Ten's best road record

Feb 7, 2007 - 4:48 PM No. 4 Wisconsin (22-2) at Penn St (10-11) 8:00 pm EST

STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Wisconsin is the best road team in the Big Ten Conference. That does not bode well for lowly Penn State.

The fourth-ranked Badgers attempt to stay even with No. 3 Ohio State when they travel to Happy Valley on Wednesday for a contest with the struggling Nittany Lions.

Wisconsin (22-2, 8-1 Big Ten) is 5-1 on the road in conference play this season with its lone setback being a 71-66 loss at Indiana last Wednesday, a contest which snapped the Badgers' 17-game winning streak.

The Badgers bounced back from the loss with a 69-52 victory over Northwestern on Saturday. Alando Tucker had 20 points and nine rebounds and Kammron Taylor added 15 points and three 3-pointers.

A candidate for several national awards, Tucker has been playing fantastic basketball of late, averaging 21.5 points and shooting 59 percent from the field over the last four games.

Penn State (10-11, 1-7) has lost seven straight games since opening conference play with a triumph over Northwestern.

In Saturday's 69-59 loss against Purdue, Geary Claxton had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Ben Luber added 14 points.

Wisconsin owns a 17-8 all-time record against the Nittany Lions and has won six of the last seven meetings.
