Oregon looks to right the ship vs. struggling Arizona State

Feb 8, 2007 - 4:47 PM Arizona St (6-16) at No. 15 Oregon (19-4) 8:30 pm EST

EUGENE, Oregon (Ticker) -- Struggling Oregon is looking to recover against one of the worst teams in the Pac-10 Conference.

After winning just once on their recent four-game road swing, the 15th-ranked Ducks return home Thursday to host Arizona State, which has lost a school-record 12 straight games.

Entering its tough swing 5-0 on the road, Oregon did not play well, falling out of first place in the Pac-10. It was a tough time away from home for the Ducks (19-4, 7-4 Pac-10).

After opening the trip with a loss to Washington on January 25, Oregon defeated 20th-ranked Washington State two days later before dropping consecutive games against fifth-ranked UCLA and USC last week in Los Angeles.

Against the Trojans on Saturday, the Ducks were defeated 71-68 with the game coming down to the waning moments.

Oregon twice missed 3-pointers in the closing seconds, including one from Aaron Brooks at the top of the key that bounced off the front of the rim as time expired.

The Sun Devils (6-16, 0-7) need a better offensive output on Thursday. In its last contest, Arizona State was defeated, 48-47, by then-No. 18 Washington State despite allowing just 12 points in the second half.

It has been a tough road against top teams for the Sun Devils, who have dropped 20 in a row against ranked opponents since beating Memphis in the first round of the 2003 NCAA tournament.
