Lehigh defeats Delaware State 73-66 in overtime
Dec 31, 2009 - 4:19 AM DOVER, Del.(AP) -- Marquis Hall scored 20 points and CJ McCollum scored seven of his 16 points in overtime to lead Lehigh past Delaware State 73-66 on Wednesday night.The Mountain Hawks (7-6), who have won three in a row, led by as many as eight in the first half before trailing 30-28 at the break.
The Hornets (4-7), who have lost six in a row after starting the season 4-1, built a 52-42 lead with 8:27 left in regulation on a Frisco Sandidge dunk.
Lehigh pulled ahead 57-56 on a Dave Buchberger 3-pointer and increased the lead to 59-56 with a Buchberger layup with 1:02 to go, but Jay Threatt forced overtime with a 3-pointer with 5 seconds on the clock.
Greg Smith hit a 3 to give the Hornets a 62-61 lead in overtime, but the Mountain Hawks regained the advantage on a McCollum layup and never relinquished it.
Sandidge led Delaware State with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
