No. 24 Indiana looks for another bounceback win

Feb 10, 2007 - 3:35 PM Illinois (18-8) at No. 24 Indiana (16-6) 1:00 pm EST

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) -- Every time Indiana has lost this season, its next opponent has paid a heavy price.

The 24th-ranked Hoosiers seek to bounce back from last weekend's defeat at Iowa when it meets Illinois in a Big Ten Conference game.

Indiana has won all five games following a loss this season by an average of 14.2 points. After averaging 57.5 points on 39 percent shooting from the floor in the losses, the Hoosiers improve to 70.6 points and 45 percent shooting the following game.

After back-to-back victories over Michigan and Wisconsin, Indiana suffered an 81-75 loss to the Hawkeyes last Saturday. Roderick Wilmont hit six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points and Earl Calloway added 16 for the Hoosiers.

Indiana (16-6, 6-3 Big Ten) has won seven of its last nine games and is in third place in the conference, 2 1/2 games behind Ohio State and Wisconsin.

Two victories shy of their eighth consecutive 20-win season, the Fighting Illini (18-8, 6-5) are looking for their fourth straight victory and are 3 1/2 games out in the Big Ten race.

Illinois is coming off Wednesday's 58-43 triumph over Northwestern. Warren Carter scored 17 points, Rich McBride added 15 and Shaun Pruitt 13 with 15 rebounds for the Illini.

Indiana has dropped seven of the last eight matchups against Illinois, including a 51-43 loss on January 23.
