Wisconsin looks to extend impressive home streak

Feb 10, 2007 - 3:48 PM Iowa (14-10) at No. 4 Wisconsin (23-2) 2:00 pm EST

MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- One of the leading contenders for the national title, Wisconsin has capitalized on its homecourt advantage.

The fourth-ranked Badgers will look to extend their winning streak at the Kohl Center to 20 games when they face Iowa on Saturday.

Holding a 16-0 record at home this season, Wisconsin (23-2, 9-1 Big Ten) has not exactly had an easy slate on their own hardwood. The Badgers have defeated then-No 2 Pittsburgh in a non-conference game on December 16, and then-No. 5 Ohio State on January 9.

Along with its remarkable run this campaign, Wisconsin also won the last three games at the Kohl Center in 2005-06. It will look to continue the streak, which is only halfway to the school record of 38 consecutive home wins set from 2002-05.

Despite their success, however, the Badgers are only tied for the conference lead with the Buckeyes, who were defeated by the Badgers, 72-69, on January 9.

In its last game, Wisconsin defeated Penn State, 71-58, on February 7. Star senior Alando Tucker collected 24 points and eight rebounds for the Badgers, who picked up their 19th win in their last 20 games overall.

They will look to continue their stellar play against the Hawkeyes (14-10, 6-4), who have won three straight games. Led by the league's leading scorer Adam Haluska, Iowa defeated Minnesota, 91-78, on Wednesday. Haluska scored 34 points, well above his 21.0 average.

The Hawkeyes have lost seven of the last eight meetings with the Badgers, including the last five straight on the road.
