North Carolina seeks revenge against Virginia Tech

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- North Carolina looks to avenge an early season loss at Virginia Tech when the Atlantic Coast Conference schools meet on Tuesday.

The Tar Heels were the No. 1 team in the country when they entered Blacksburg, Virginia on January 13. They left with a 94-88 loss.

Zabian Dowdell scored 23 points and Jamon Gordon and A.D. Vassallo added 17 apiece for Virginia Tech (13-4, 3-0 ACC), which had lost 18 in a row to North Carolina. The Hokies shot 53 percent from the field, including 7-of-13 from the arc.

The Tar Heels (22-3, 8-2 ACC) are coming off a 104-67 blowout of Wake Forest on Saturday. Reyshawn Terry led North Carolina with 23 points.

Virginia Tech beat Virginia, 84-57 last Saturday to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Hokies are 4-25 all-time in Chapel Hill.
