No. 8 Kansas aims to continue dominance of Colorado

Feb 14, 2007 - 3:02 PM No. 8 Kansas (21-4) at Colorado (6-14) 9:00 pm EST

BOULDER, Colorado (Ticker) -- Kansas seeks to continue its dominance of Colorado when the Big 12 Conference schools meet on Wednesday.

The eighth-ranked Jayhawks can record their 22nd victory for the 18th consecutive season and move closer to the top spot in the conference.

Kansas (21-4, 8-2 Big 12) has won eight consecutive meetings with Colorado and 35 of the last 36 encounters, dating to 1991. The last time the Buffaloes defeated the Jayhawks was on January 22, 2003.

With five victories in its last six contests, Kansas trails Texas A&M by one-half game in the Big 12 standings and leads third-place Texas by one-half game.

Kansas kept alive its run of success against Colorado with a 97-74 victory on January 27. Mario Chalmers and Brandon Rush scored 21 points apiece for the Jayhawks. Richard Roby led the Buffaloes with 30.

The Jayhawks gave coach Bill Self his 300th career victory with Saturday's victory over Missouri. Julian Wright made 14-of-21 shots and collected a career-high 33 points and 12 rebounds.

Failure to get off to a strong start has plagued the Buffaloes (6-14, 2-8), who are 1-13 when trailing at the half this season. They have lost five of their last six and are tied with Missouri for ninth place in the Big 12 standings.

Colorado is coming off Saturday's 78-59 loss against Kansas State. Freshman Xavier Silas scored 16 points, but committed 10 turnovers for the Buffaloes.
