No. 14 Air Force goes for 29th straight home win

Feb 14, 2007 - 3:30 PM Utah (9-14) at No. 14 Air Force (21-4) 10:00 pm EST

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (Ticker) -- With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Air Force is looking to regain the magic of its start.

The 14th-ranked Falcons shoot for their 29th consecutive home win when they face Utah in a Mountain West Conference rematch.

Air Force (21-4, 8-3 MWC) has won just four of its last seven games following a 13-game winning streak and trails Brigham Young by one game in the conference standings. The Cougars face New Mexico on Wednesday.

The Falcons are coming off Saturday's 60-51 victory over New Mexico. Dan Nwaelele and Tim Anderson scored 17 points apiece and Jacob Burtschi added 15 for Air Force, which limited the Lobos to 32 percent (18-of-56) shooting from the floor.

One of the highlights of Utah's season was an 85-79 victory over the Falcons in their first meeting of the season on January 16. The victory ended Air Force's lengthy winning streak.

Since then, the Runnin' Utes (9-14, 4-6) have won three of their last five contests and are in fifth place in the conference standings, 4 1/2 games in back of BYU. However, they are just 1-7 on the road.

Utah won for just the second time in 15 games when trailing at the half this season with last Wednesday's 82-77 victory over Colorado State. Luke Nevill scored 18 points and Johnnie Bryant added 17, including the go-ahead layup with 1.7 seconds remaining.
