UCLA looks to hand Arizona State another loss

Feb 15, 2007 - 2:54 PM No. 7 UCLA (21-3) at Arizona St (6-18) 8:30 pm EST

TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Seventh-ranked UCLA looks to extend Arizona State's losing streak to 15 games when the Pac-10 schools meet on Thursday.

It has been a tough first year at Arizona State (6-18, 0-13 Pac-10) for coach Herb Sendek. The team has been slow to adjust to the Princeton offense with three freshmen averaging over 27 minutes a game.

UCLA (21-3, 10-2 Pac 10) limited the Sun Devils to just 13 second-half points in a 60-50 win in the first meeting of the season. Darren Collison scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half for the Bruins and guard Arron Afflalo chipped in 13. Freshman Christian Polk led Arizona State with 16 points.

The latest loss for the Sun Devils was a 59-55 defeat to Oregon State. Polk led the team with just 12 points.

Arizona State has lost its last four games by a total of 14 points.

UCLA has been ranked in the top 10 all season after a loss in the NCAA championship game last year. A tough road loss to West Virginia on Saturday is the Bruins' lone non-conference defeat this season.
