Arizona seeks to extend three-game winning streak

Feb 15, 2007 - 3:00 PM No. 23 USC (18-7) at No. 24 Arizona (17-7) 10:30 pm EST

TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- No. 24 Arizona takes a three-game winning streak into a pivotal Pac-10 contest against 23rd-ranked Southern California on Thursday night.

The Wildcats (17-7, 8-5 Pac 10) had lost six of eight games before running off their current streak.

However, USC (18-7, 8-4) posted an 80-73 win over Arizona in the first meeting on January 18. Swingman Nick Young scored 22 of his game-high 30 points in the second half. Marcus Williams and Mustafa Shakur led Arizona with 19 points apiece.

Southern Cal had its own three-game winning streak snapped in a 70-65 loss to UCLA last week.

Freshman Chase Budinger scored 30 points to lead Arizona to a 77-74 win at Oregon last Saturday. Ivan Radenovic hit the go-ahead basket with six seconds left and Budinger added a pair of free throws with four seconds remaining.

The win was Arizona's third over a ranked opponent this season. The Trojans are 5-3 against ranked teams.
