Kent State trounces Buffalo 89-54
Jan 21, 2010 - 2:35 AM KENT, Ohio(AP) -- Chris Singletary scored 18 points and six Kent State players scored in double figures to beat Buffalo 89-54 on Wednesday night, handing the Bulls their first Mid-American Conference loss.Rodriguez Sherman added 13 points for the Golden Flashes (11-7, 2-2), who avoided losing three in a row for the first time this season. Tyree Evans, Randal Holt and Anthony Simpson scored 11 points apiece while Justin Greene added 10 for Kent State.
The game was close throughout the first half, and Calvin Betts dropped in a layup to pull Buffalo within 26-24 with just under 3 minutes to play before halftime. But Sherman, Greene and Singletary had a layup apiece to spark a 10-0 Kent State run the rest of the way.
The Golden Flashes opened the second on a 16-8 run to seal it.
Max Boudreau scored 15 points to lead the Bulls (10-5, 3-1), who had a four-game winning streak snapped.
