S.C.-Upstate defeats North Florida 64-50
Jan 22, 2010 - 4:16 AM JACKSONVILLE, Fla.(AP) -- Nick Schneiders scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds to lead South Carolina-Upstate to a 64-50 victory over North Florida on Thursday night.The Spartans (3-15, 3-6 Atlantic Sun Conference) took command by outscoring North Florida 34-18 in the first half to win their second straight game after beginning the season 1-15.
S.C.-Upstate led 10-1 and 17-5 before pushing its advantage to 33-15 on Pat Posey's 3-pointer with 1:09 left in the first half.
North Florida cut the lead to nine on two occasions in the second half, but the Spartans scored after each time to push the lead back into double figures.
Posey finished with 11 points for the Spartans, who shot 52 percent from the field (13-for-25) in the first half.
Stan Januska scored 18 points, Eni Cuka added 11 points and Matt Sauey had 10 rebounds for North Florida, which has lost three straight.
