Rush, Kansas aim to stay in first place, host Nebraska

LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) - Kansas and Brandon Rush look to maintain their perch at the top of the Big 12 Conference when they host Nebraska on Saturday.

The Jayhawks crushed the Colorado Buffaloes, 75-46, in Boulder on Wednesday. Russell Robinson scored 14 points and Darrell Arthur added 11 for Kansas (22-4, 9-2 Big 12), which has won three straight and six of its last seven.

Sasha Kaun had 10 points and nine rebounds and Julian Wright and Mario Chalmers each added eight for the Jayhawks, who remain tied with Texas A&M for first place in the conference standings.

Kansas dominated Nebraska in Lincoln on January 29, winning 76-56 after racing out to a 43-8 lead in the first half. Rush led all scorers with 20 points and rebounders with eight boards. Wright added 17 points and Arthur 12 in the victory.

The Cornhuskers earned a 74-63 victory over Kansas State on Tuesday. Aleks Maric scored a career-high 41 points on 13-of-19 shooting, posting the second best single-game scoring mark in school history. It was the eighth 40-point game by a Big 12 player since the league was formed in 1996-97.

Maric hit on 15-of-25 free throws and also added eight rebounds and three blocks for the Huskers (15-9, 4-6), who shot 58 percent (23-of-40) and have now won three of their last four games.

Overall, Kansas has dominated the series vs. Nebraska, owning a 160-71 all-time advantage. The Jayhawks have won seven straight and 16 of 17 vs. the Huskers.
