Fazekas, Nevada look for seventh straight win, host Northern Iowa

RENO, Nevada (Ticker) -- Nevada and Wooden Award Candidate Nick Fazekas look for their seventh straight win when they host Northern Iowa in a non-conference contest on Saturday.

The Wolf Pack posted a 68-60 victory over San Jose State on Wednesday to take a two-game lead in the WAC standings. Fazekas scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds - his 16th double-double of the season - for Nevada, which has won 10 straight at home and 16 of its last 17 overall.

Fazekas, the two-time Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, is second in the conference in scoring at 20.7 points, just behind Utah State's Jaycee Carroll (20.9 PPG).

Kyle Shiloh added 16 points, Ramon Sessions 11 and Marcelus Kemp 10 for the Wolf Pack, who are just 4-12 record all-time vs. teams from the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Panthers who have lost their last four games, dropped a 66-55 decision at Creighton on Tuesday. Brooks McKowen scored 15 points and Grant Stout added 13 and eight boards for Northern Iowa, which has also lost seven of its last eight.

Eric Coleman had eight points but connected on a paltry 3-of-13 from the floor. The Panthers shot just 34 percent (19-of-56) Northern Iowa holds a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series with Nevada, winning one game each at home and on the road.

The Panthers have also made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
