No. 17 Oregon looks to overcome close losses vs. Stanford

Feb 17, 2007 - 4:43 PM No. 17 Oregon (20-6) at Stanford (16-8) 8:00 pm EST

PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- A disappointing February has made Oregon's dominant start a distant memory.

The 17th-ranked Ducks attempt to win for just the second time in six games and snap a 20-game road losing streak against Stanford when the teams meet Saturday in a Pac-10 Conference clash.

After winning its first 13 games, Oregon (20-6, 8-6 Pac-10) is just 7-6, with four losses in five February contests. In their last three defeats, the Ducks were outscored by a total of eight points.

Oregon slipped into a fifth-place tie with Arizona in the Pac-10 standings with Thursday's 63-61 defeat against California. Tajuan Porter scored 14 points and Aaron Brooks had 12 to move into 12th place in school history (1,305).

The Cardinal (16-8, 8-5) are 10-4 at home this season and are fourth in the conference standings, one game behind Southern California.

Stanford ended a two-game slide with Thursday's 70-55 victory over Oregon State. Lawrence Hill made 9-of-17 shots to score 23 points and Brook Lopez added 20 for the Cardinal.

Oregon has lost eight of the last 10 overall matchups against Stanford and has not won here since the 1985-1986 campaign. However, the Ducks took the earlier encounter this season, 66-59, on January 18.
