Durant, Longhorns go for 20th win

Feb 20, 2007 - 3:03 PM Texas Tech (17-10) at No. 20 Texas (19-7) 9:00 pm EST

AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas is on its way to another 20-win season.

The 20th-ranked Longhorns will host Texas Tech in a Big 12 Conference contest on Tuesday.

Texas (19-7, 9-3 Big 12) has strung together seven straight 20-win campaigns.

Freshman Kevin Durant is the leader of the current edition. He has scored 37 points three times this season, including in a 76-64 victory at Texas Tech on January 31. Durant is coming off a 20-point, 14-rebound performance in a 68-67 victory over Baylor on Saturday.

The 6-9 forward is averaging 24.7 points and 11.5 rebounds - both tops in the conference - and has recorded 16 double-doubles.

Durant has been honored with a record eight Big 12 weekly awards and will draw plenty of attention from Red Raider defenders, especially in the wake of his last outing against them.

In the first meeting between the teams, Durant added 23 rebounds to his season-high points total for just the second 30-point, 20-rebound performance in conference history. Durant has been especially good down the stretch, recording all six of his 30-point efforts in Texas' last 13 games.

Texas Tech (17-10, 6-6) completed a season sweep of No. 9 Texas A&M on February 13 and is coming off a 95-74 victory over Colorado on Saturday.

Senior guard Jarrius Jackson is averaging 20.7 points and junior forward Martin Zeno is averaging 17 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Red Raiders.
