Florida looks to rebound Wednesday against South Carolina
Feb 21, 2007 - 3:11 PM South Carolina (13-12) at No. 3 Florida (24-3) 8:00 pm ESTGAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Florida looks to bounce back on Wednesday after having a 17-game winning streak snapped last Saturday by Vanderbilt.
The loss to Vanderbilt knocked the Gators out of the top spot in the polls and ended a potential undefeated Southestern Conference regular season.
Florida (24-3, 11-1 SEC) welcomes last-place South Carolina Wednesday night in a meeting of SEC East teams.
The Gators dominated South Carolina earlier in the season, 84-50, in Columbia. Lee Humphrey led Florida with 27 points including hitting 7-of-8 3-point shots.
The Gamecocks (13-12, 3-9) snapped a five-game losing streak their last time out with an 81-64 victory over Tennessee. Tre' Kelley scored 25 points and Bryce Sheldon added 16 as South Carolina shot 62 percent (16-of-26) in the second half.
Florida's 83-70 loss to Vanderbilt was its first double-figure loss in 65 games since March 2005. The Gators gave up 24 points apiece to Vanderbilt forwards Shan Foster and Derrick Byars and allowed the Commodores to shoot 57 percent (32-of-56) for the game.
