Georgetown looks to avoid a letdown against Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Georgetown hopes to avoid a letdown on Wednesday when it faces Cincinnati in a Big East Conference matchup.

The Hoyas (20-5, 10-2 Big East), who have won nine straight, host first-place Pittsburgh in a Big East showdown on Saturday.

Georgetown cruised to an 82-67 win over Cincinnati in the first meeting of the season. Center Roy Hibbert scored a career-high 26 points for the Hoyas.

Cincinnati (10-16, 1-11) is suffering through an eight-game losing streak with its most recent defeat coming at home, 76-64, to Notre Dame on Sunday.

Junior forward Jeff Green of the Hoyas was named Big East player of the week on Monday after averaging 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.5 blocks in wins over West Virginia and Villanova.

Georgetown ranks fourth in the nation defensively, holding opponents to just 56.1 points per game.
