Alabama, Tennessee seek to strengthen NCAA Tourney resume

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- No. 25 Alabama and Tennessee seek to improve their NCAA Tournament resume when they meet in a Southeastern Conference contest on Wednesday.

Alabama (19-7, 6-6 SEC West) is coming off a 72-61 victory over Kentucky on Saturday. Richard Hendrix led the Crimson Tide with 16 points and nine rebounds and Ronald Steele added 15 points.

Tennessee (18-9, 6-6 SEC East) had a three-game winning streak snapped last Saturday at South Carolina, 81-64. Star guard Chris Lofton was held to just 13 points on 3-of-10 shooting, including 1-of-7 from the arc. Lofton's counterpart on South Carolina, guard Tre' Kelley, torched the Volunteers for 25 points on 7-of-16 shooting.

Lofton is the top scorer in the SEC, averaging 20.4 points per game.

Hendrix leads the SEC in field goal percentage at 62.1 percent and is third in the SEC in rebounding, grabbing 8.9 boards per game.
