Buffalo pulls away from Bowling Green 64-51
Feb 18, 2010 - 4:01 AM BUFFALO, N.Y.(AP) -- Rodney Pierce scored 18 points and Sean Smiley 14 as Buffalo pulled away in the second half to beat Bowling Green 64-51 on Wednesday night.A 12-0 run gave the Bulls (15-9, 8-5 Mid-American Conference) a 28-15 lead en route to a 35-20 halftime advantage. The Falcons (13-12, 6-7), however, closed the gap to 37-34 as Buffalo missed six of its first seven shots in the second half while turning the ball over three times.
The Bulls then abruptly rediscovered the range, led by Pierce and Smiley.
Pierce stole the ball and assisted on a 3-pointer by John Boyer, then, after a Bowling Green basket, hit a 3-pointer himself.
After another Bowling Green basket, Pierce assisted on a pair of 3-pointers by Smiley, then hit a 2-point basket to make it 51-38 with 9:59 remaining.
Scott Thomas scored 21 points to lead Bowling Green.
