Alabama looks to tame Auburn after overtime loss

Feb 24, 2007 - 4:28 PM Auburn (15-13) at No. 25 Alabama (19-8) 5:00 pm EST

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (Ticker) -- Alabama was embarrassed by Auburn in the last meeting between the bitter rivals. The Crimson Tide clearly have had Saturday's date circled on their calendars since then.

The 25th-ranked Crimson Tide aim for a measure of revenge Saturday when they host the Tigers in a Southeastern Conference clash.

Since a humiliating 81-57 setback at Auburn on January 23, the Crimson Tide has split eight games to find themselves on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

Auburn opened the second half of that contest on a 25-7 run to snap a seven-game losing streak in the series. However, the Tigers have lost seven straight visits to Tuscaloosa.

Alabama (19-8, 6-7 SEC West) is coming off a 69-66 overtime loss at Tennessee on Tuesday.

Mychal Riley led the Crimson Tide with 15 points, including four 3-pointers, and Jermareo Davidson added 15 rebounds.

The Tigers (15-13, 5-8) are looking for a second straight victory after losing four in a row. Auburn is coming off a 67-59 triumph over Arkansas on Tuesday. Frank Tolbert had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Korvotney Barber added 12 and 14.
