Kansas seeks sixth straight win, season sweep of Iowa State
Feb 24, 2007 - 4:34 PM Iowa St (14-13) at No. 6 Kansas (24-4) 6:00 pm ESTLAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- Sixth-ranked Kansas returns to Allen Fieldhouse in search of a sixth straight win when they host Iowa State on Saturday for a Big 12 Conference contest.
In the first meeting between the teams this season, Kansas survived a 68-64 overtime thriller on January 13.
Kansas' Brandon Rush made several key baskets, including a game-winning alley-oop dunk in overtime, and finished with 12 points. Sasha Kaun scored 13 points for the Jayhawks.
With Monday's 71-62 win at Kansas State, the Jayhawks (24-4, 11-2 Big 12) recorded their 13th straight season with 11 conference victories.
Freshman Sherron Collins scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Mario Chalmers added 17 for Kansas, which has won 24 straight games in Manhattan.
The Cyclones (14-13, 5-8 Big 12) are 0-4 this season against ranked foes and have not beaten one since a 63-61 overtime thriller here on February 19, 2005.
Iowa State has lost five straight road conference games but is coming off a 55-53 home triumph against Colorado. Corey McIntosh scored 13 points and Taylor added 12 as the Cyclones overcame a four-point halftime deficit.
