Feb 24, 2007 - 4:41 PM No. 22 BYU (21-6) at San Diego St (19-8) 6:00 pm EST

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Brigham Young is back in the national rankings for the first time in over a decade. Now the Cougars hope to remain among the country's best.

The 22nd-ranked Cougars aim for their eighth straight win Saturday when they visit San Diego State in a Mountain West Conference contest.

Back in the national rankings for the first time since 1993, BYU is on its longest winning streak since the 2003-04 season and the 10th-longest run in the nation currently.

After returning to the rankings Monday, BYU (21-6, 11-2 MWC) knocked off Colorado State, 76-67, on Wednesday. Keena Young scored 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting and Lee Cummard added 20 points.

Off to its best 27-game start since the 1984-85 season, the Aztecs (19-8, 8-5) have won six of their last seven games, including Monday's 81-74 overtime victory at New Mexico.

Brandon Heath, the conference's all-time leader in points, steals and 3-pointers, scored 30 points while Jerome Habel added 18.

BYU routed San Diego State, 80-58, on January 6. Rashaun Broadus led four Cougars in double figures with 19 points, while Heath was limited to 13 points.

The Aztecs have won the last three at Cox Arena but trail the all-time series, 40-19.
