North Carolina tries to move one game closer to ACC title
Feb 25, 2007 - 6:24 PM No. 5 North Carolina (24-4) at Maryland (21-7) 5:30 pm ESTCOLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- North Carolina is closing in on another Atlantic Coast Conference banner.
The fifth-ranked Tar Heels look to inch closer to the ACC regular-season title Sunday when they visit Maryland.
With a win, UNC would build its lead in the conference to one full game with two contests remaining.
North Carolina (24-4, 10-3 ACC) has won two in a row, including Wednesday's 83-64 drubbing of North Carolina State.
Freshman Brandon Wright led the Tar Heels with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting.
Maryland (21-7, 7-6) has won four straight, including a 73-55 triumph over Florida State on Wednesday. Bambale Osby came off the bench to lead Maryland with 15 points.
North Carolina has won the last five meetings between the schools.
