Kansas seeks seventh straight win

NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Kansas is playing its best at the right time.

The third-ranked Jayhawks (25-4, 12-2 Big 12) have won their last six games by an average of 29 points to move into a first place tie with Texas A&M in the Big 12 Conference.

Kansas takes its show on the road Monday against Oklahoma, which probably needs to win the conference tournament to make the NCAA Tournament.

Losses by Wisconsin, Florida and North Carolina enabled the Jayhawks to move up three places in the latest coaches poll, which was released Monday.

The Sooners (15-12, 6-8) have lost four straight, including a 68-58 defeat to Texas on Saturday. Kevin Durant torched Oklahoma for 32 points, including five 3-pointers, and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Jayhawks cruised to an 89-52 victory over Iowa State on Saturday. Mario Chalmers led six players in double figures with 18 points.

Kansas is in the running for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament.
