La Salle knocks off Massachusetts 89-78
Mar 4, 2010 - 2:44 AM PHILADELPHIA(AP) -- Rodney Green scored 30 points to lead La Salle to an 89-78 victory over Massachusetts on Wednesday night.Green was 13-for-16 from the free throw line and the Explorers (12-17, 4-11 Atlantic 10 Conference) shot 50 percent from the field (28 of 56) to snap an eight-game losing streak.
Aaric Murray scored five points and Green had four as La Salle went on a 9-2 run to take a 33-24 lead with 5:11 remaining in the first half.
Murray, who finished with 13 points, then scored five straight points as the Explorers took a 40-32 lead into halftime.
Jerrell Williams had 14 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for La Salle. Steve Weingarten added 13 points.
Ricky Harris hit eight 3-pointers on his way to scoring 31 points for Massachusetts (10-19, 4-11), which has lost four consecutive games.
Massachusetts shot 33.3 percent from the 3-point line (13 of 39).
