Twitter comments lead to Idaho player's suspension

Mar 6, 2010 - 7:11 PM MOSCOW, Idaho(AP) -- Twitter comments critical of the Idaho basketball coach have led to the indefinite suspension of the team's second-leading scorer.

Coach Don Verlin suspended Kashif Watson on Friday without an explanation, other than to say it was for conduct detrimental to the program. Watson on his Twitter account wrote Friday that he was in trouble for his Twitter comments.

Previously, Watson wrote after losses that he didn't know how the team was supposed to win with Verlin coaching, and questioned the coach's desire to win.

Watson will miss Saturday's game against Hawaii, but the suspension will be reviewed before the Western Athletic Conference tournament.

Watson has averaged 10.7 points for the Vandals, who are 14-15 overall and 5-10 in the WAC.
