Georgia Tech looks to improve NCAA resume against North Carolina
Mar 1, 2007 - 4:11 PM No. 8 North Carolina (24-5) at Georgia Tech (18-10) 9:00 pm ESTATLANTA (Ticker) -- Georgia Tech is running out of time to prove it belongs in the NCAA Tournament. A win over eighth-ranked North Carolina will certainly strengthen its case.
The Yellow Jackets host North Carolina on Thursday night in an Atlantic Coast Conference contest.
Georgia Tech (18-10, 6-8 ACC) has won five of its last seven games to move into seventh place in the ACC.
North Carolina (24-5, 10-4 ACC) is in a three-way tie for first place with Virginia and Virginia Tech.
The Tar Heels beat Georgia Tech, 77-61, on January 20 in Chapel Hill as Tyler Hansbrough scored 24 points.
The Yellow Jackets lost at Virginia, 75-69, on Saturday. They were scorched by the backcourt duo of Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds, who have combined for 49 points.
North Carolina is coming off a 89-87 loss at Maryland on Sunday.
