MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- A memorable season for Wisconsin has developed a sour taste in recent days.

The fifth-ranked Badgers attempt to snap a two-game slide and win their 22nd consecutive home contest Saturday when they close the regular season against Michigan State in a Big Ten Conference battle.

Wisconsin (26-4, 12-3 Big Ten) won 26 of its first 28 games to set a single-season school record for victories and tie the mark for conference triumphs.

However, any hopes of winning the Big Ten regular-season title disappeared with consecutive losses to Michigan State and Ohio State. The Badgers will get the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

The slide began with a 64-55 defeat to the Spartans on February 20. Michigan State had a 41-24 rebounding advantage while limiting Wisconsin to a season low in points and field goal percentage (35.8).

Things only got worse five days later for the Badgers in a 49-48 defeat to the Buckeyes, which enabled Ohio State to clinch the conference crown. Alando Tucker scored 12 points on just 5-of-15 shooting.

Michigan State (21-9, 8-7) is in a four-way tie for fifth place in conference play and has won four of its last five outings.

The Spartans are coming off Tuesday's 67-56 loss to Michigan. Raymar Morgan scored 13 points and Drew Neitzel and Goran Suton added 11 each for Michigan State.
