No. 1 Ohio St can extend winning streak to 14 vs. Michigan

Mar 3, 2007 - 3:30 PM No. 1 Ohio St (26-3) at Michigan (20-10) 4:00 pm EST

ANN ARBOR, Michigan (Ticker) - With its Big Ten regular-season title assured, Ohio State enters another showdown with its arch-rival.

The top-ranked Buckeyes can win their 14th consecutive game overall and 13th straight in conference play when they visit Michigan on Saturday in a Big Ten conference encounter.

This has been a magical athletic campaign for Ohio State (26-3, 14-1 Big Ten), which had its football and men's and women's basketball squads win conference titles in the same academic year for the first time in school history.

The Buckeyes have not lost since a 72-69 defeat at Wisconsin on January 9 and will be the top seed in next week's conference tournament in Chicago for the second straight year.

Ohio State kept its winning streak alive Sunday when Mike Conley, Jr. hit a layup with two seconds remaining for a 49-48 victory over Wisconsin. Ivan Harris scored 13 points for the Buckeyes, who set a season low in points.

The Wolverines (20-10, 8-7) can finish their regular season with three consecutive wins and raise their home mark to 18-2. They are in a four-way tie for fifth place in the Big Ten standings.

Michigan is coming off Tuesday's 67-56 victory over Michigan State. Dion Harris scored 24 points and Courtney Sims added 13 with 10 rebounds for Michigan.

Ohio State posted a 76-63 triumph over Michigan in their earlier matchup February 6. Conley led the Buckeyes with 23 points, while Sims had 17 for the Wolverines.
