Pittsburgh tries to clinch a share of Big East

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh can clinch a share of the Big East regular season title with a win Saturday at Marquette.

The Panthers (25-5, 12-3 Big East) are tied atop the standings with Georgetown.

Marquette (22-8, 9-6) has lost four of its last five games to drop into sixth place in the Big East and now will miss out on a first round bye in the Big East tournament.

The Golden Eagles defeated Pittsburgh in their first matchup 77-74 in overtime, January 21. Dominic James scored 23 points and hit two free throws to clinch the victory in the extra period.

The Panthers notched a win over West Virginia last time out, 80-66, behind 12 points and 13 rebounds from star center Aaron Gray.

Marquette is coming off a loss to Notre Dame in which they managed just 31 percent (10-of-32) shooting in the second half.
