No. 19 Louisville seeks sixth straight win

Mar 4, 2007 - 2:52 PM Seton Hall (13-15) at No. 19 Louisville (21-8) 12:00 pm EST

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- With the Big East Conference tournament looming, Louisville may be one of the teams opponents hope to avoid.

The 19th-ranked Cardinals shoot for their sixth consecutive victory and 10th in 12 outings Sunday with their regular-season finale against Seton Hall in a Big East matchup.

Louisville (21-8, 11-4 Big East) has reached the 20-win plateau for the fifth straight season under coach Rick Pitino and have clinched a first-round bye in the conference tournament at Madison Square Garden.

The Cardinals kept their winning streak alive with last Sunday's 76-69 triumph over Connecticut. Terrence Williams scored 17 points and Derrick Caracter added 16.

Louisville has won all 17 games this season when leading at halftime and is 16-4 at home.

Already eliminated from contention for a place in the Big East tournament, Seton Hall (13-15, 4-11) dropped six of seven games in February and can finish no higher than 13th in the conference standings.

The Pirates are coming off Wednesday's 70-67 overtime loss to Cincinnati. Eugene Harvey scored 24 points and Brian Laing added 18 for Seton hall, which shot just 38 percent (25-of-66) from the floor.

The teams have not faced each other since Louisville posted an 80-71 victory December 10, 2003.
